Superior Soil Program

The Superior Soil Program is being offered to property owners within a defined Study Area.

BHP is working in cooperation with the Voluntary Remediation Program (VRP) at the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ), to conduct a voluntary soil remediation program in the Town of Superior. BHP has voluntarily elected to initiate this program with oversight from ADEQ to investigate potential soil impacts from historical mining activities at the former Magma Mine plant site.

Who is eligible?

Property owners within the defined Study Area in Superior, AZ.

What's tested?

Levels of arsenic and lead in the soil.

What is done?

Free soil testing, remediation (if necessary), and re-landscaping.

What is the cost?

There is no cost to the property owner.

Is it compulosry?

Participation is voluntary, but strongly encouraged for eligible properties.
